Clews Support

Help with Clews.

Start

  1. Create a new project, start from a template, or open an existing project.
  2. Create a Clew.
  3. Give the Clew a title and content.
  4. Add context with one or more Guilds when useful.
  5. Create Threads to relate it to other Clews.
  6. Use the map when you want to see those relationships.

Projects

From the project screen, you can:

  • Create a new project.
  • Create from Template.
  • Load Project from File.
  • Export or import a portable .clews project file.

Templates provide starting structures for History, World, Research, System, and Organization projects. They are starting points, not separate Clews modes.

Concepts

Clew
The fundamental piece of information in a project.
Guild
Provides contextual grouping and belonging for Clews.
Thread
Represents a relationship between Clews.

Maps

Clews visualizes Threads through relationship maps.

  • The local relationship view focuses on a Clew and its immediate relationships.
  • The extended or general Threads map shows relationships across the project and supports zoom.
  • Relationship labels identify the Threads between Clews.

When the pointer is over a Clew, its relationships receive visual priority. When the pointer is over a Thread, that Thread and its associated Clews receive visual priority.

Export

.clews
The portable Clews project format. Use it to export or import the project itself.
PDF
Project documentation export. Select the Guilds and Clews to include in the PDF.
PNG
Exports the general Threads map as an image.
